ASCE Scholarship Program Awards Banquet 2009
The San Jose Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) recently completed their 23rd annual scholarship program. An awards banquet was held May 4, 2009 at San Jose State University to honor those students chosen to receive awards from the ASCE program. A total of 21 engineering firms with memberships in American Public Works Association (APWA), American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), and ASCE supported the awards program.
Mr. Bill Zehrbach, President of ES Geotechnologies (a company of the Earth Systems group of companies) has served as Chairman of the fundraising committee for 10 years. His successful efforts led to the awarding of $14,000.00 in scholarship funds to 23 students to further their studies in Civil Engineering. The students attend the three universities within the San Jose Branch of ASCE: San Jose State, Santa Clara, and Stanford.
Students were selected by essay competition; the essay subject was the country’s investment in infrastructure and the importance of that investment as part of our current economic recovery plan.
